Worcester Intercollegiate Outdoors Initiative News & Events
We are teaming up with Greater Worcester Land Trust volunteers at Cascades East for Worcester’s 30th annual city-wide Earth Day clean-ups.
A portion of this beautiful tract of woodland which was protected as conservation land in 2001 had been used more than half a century ago for trash disposal. The Land Trust has been clearing debris from this site at every Earth Day clean-up for the past 7 years, often with assistance from Clark and WPI students. (See photos from Clark’s early participation in 2013, 2014, and 2015 for a sense of the challenge!)
This year the Worcester Intercollegiate Outdoors Initiative welcomes students from all colleges to come lend a hand. Following the clean-up, there will be a barbecue at noon at the Land Trust’s Cascading Waters Lodge at 135 Olean Street.
To RSVP and for more information, please email Greg Doerschler at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 508-795-3838
Experience the activism-inspired Wild and Scenic Film Festival with 15 environmental and adventure films in just 90 minutes, and join fellow college students for a free intercollegiate pizza party! The festival’s nationwide tour comes to Worcester’s Chandler Magnet School at 525 Chandler Street on Friday, March 29th at 6 PM, to benefit the Greater Worcester Land Trust.
To celebrate, the Worcester Intercollegiate Outdoors Initiative and Worcester State University’s Gamma Theta Upsilon Geography Honor Society chapter invite college student festival-goers to a 5 PM pre-event pizza party at Worcester State (located directly across the street from the festival). Come to our free pizza party and you’ll receive $3 off the festival’s $10 admission price!
We need an accurate headcount for the party, so RSVP is required. Those committed to attending should RSVP to email@example.com or 508-795-3838 to receive additional details. We hope to see you there!WSFF-WIOI_flyer
